Neighborhoods throughout Cottonwood and Clarkdale are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the
"25th Annual National Night Out" (NNO) for crime and drug prevention.
National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by Cottonwood Police Department, Clarkdale Police Department and Camp Verde Marshals Office. The events take place in 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
In all, over 34 million people are expected to participate in "America's Night Out Against Crime" on Aug. 5. NNO 2008 is being supported in part by Target Corporation and the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals, letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Citizens across the nation are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.
Cottonwood:
The Cottonwood Police Department and Cottonwood Blockwatch Programs will host the celebration at the Cottonwood Kid's Park on South 12th Street near the Fairgrounds. Food, refreshments and family fun are planned along with numerous other activities.
Sgt. Gary Eisenga says to expect great hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn to eat and a number of demonstrations. Of course there will be a bounce house and a number of things for kids.
A Tae Kwon Do studio will show their skills. The SWAT team will have a demonstration. A department K-9 will show how bad guys are taken down and the department will demonstrate a Taser.
Be sure to be on hand to see the SWAT teams new surveillance robot demonstration.
There will also be a number of booths and displays for the Trauma Intervention Program (TIP), the Arizona Rangers, Boy Scouts, Yavapai Health Department, State Parks Department, The Verde Valley Cycling Coalition (VVCC) and the Cottonwood's own Citizen Police Academy Alumni, who helped to organize the fund.
It is all on Tuesday night Aug. 5, 6-9 p.m.

Black Belt Testing
Saturday May 10, 2008
Emmanuel Fellowship
"I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the black belt testing, dinner and show.
I had no idea how much goes into one of these events! It was lovely and so enjoyable."
-TKD Parent

''Hey, just want to say again how enjoyable the whole affair was for my family.
Everybody loved the way you decorated the tables. Your attention to detail like place cards and names on
the tickets did not go un-noticed.
Personally I want to thank you and your family for the love you showed all of us.
It will be for me a beautiful memory."
-Graduation Black Belt Parent
"The candidates were well prepared, thank your dedicated brother for me, the judges kept the focus on the kids and
yet were delightful in their choice of entertainment. The timing throughout the day was thoughtful and it seemed to run smoothly.
The programs were awesome, the place settings, name tags, cake, plaques, ribbons
and especially the heart of the entire Labarda family made for a joyful and moving experience.
It could have been just any old graduation, but because of your
care, dedication, time and love, the day was all but perfect."
